1. Add the PDF
Open the DRM PDF workspace in GiliSoft DRM Protection and add the document you want to distribute. Keep the original PDF as your editable source.
GiliSoft DRM Protection includes a DRM PDF workspace for documents you plan to distribute. Add a PDF, set its reading period and watermark, then create a protected copy for the intended audience.
This is different from adding a standard password to a PDF. The protected output needs the supported GiliSoft viewing workflow, so test it on the recipient's device before sending it widely.

Set a reading period and a visible watermark for the intended audience. Check how those settings affect real pages, including forms if your PDF contains them.
Export the protected document using the PDF mode. Keep the project settings and any access details needed to support authorized readers later.
Open the result on a recipient Windows PC using the supported GiliSoft viewing workflow. Confirm the reading period, watermark and page behavior before USB or offline distribution.
Use PDF DRM when a document is being delivered to readers and you need viewing conditions such as a reading period or watermark after distribution.
If you only need a standard open password for a PDF, use GiliSoft PDF DOC Password Protect. A regular PDF reader can open that file after the password is entered.
DRM does not edit PDF text or convert documents. For page edits and form work, start with GiliSoft PDF Editor before protecting the finished copy.
Access controls and watermarks can discourage casual redistribution, but they cannot guarantee that a displayed page will never be photographed or copied. Test the exact delivery setup you plan to use.
The Exclusive Features of DRM Protection control helped us reduce unauthorized redistribution in real delivery workflows.
We rely on Government-level Security to strengthen copy protection and keep shared files under policy.
Protect All Media Formats made DRM-oriented publishing easier for non-technical team members.
After enabling Multiple Encryption Modes, our content sharing process became more secure and predictable.
The Add Watermark to Videos control helped us reduce unauthorized redistribution in real delivery workflows.
Do not assume the protected output behaves like an ordinary PDF. Confirm the required GiliSoft viewing workflow and test it on the recipient's computer before distribution.
An ordinary password controls opening the PDF in a compatible reader. PDF DRM is for a controlled delivery workflow with settings such as a reading period and visible watermark. For simple password encryption, see PDF DOC Password Protect.
The DRM PDF workspace includes a Fillable PDF option. Test form fields, saving and the recipient's viewing setup with a sample document before protecting a larger batch.
