External hard drives often carry backups, client files, project archives, photos, videos, or field-work documents between computers. If only one or two folders need protection, GiliSoft File Lock Pro helps you lock, hide, or write-protect selected folders without changing the entire drive workflow.
You may not want full-drive encryption every time. The more common situation is narrower: an external hard drive is shared for backups or file transfer, but a client folder, finance folder, design source folder, or personal archive should not be opened casually on another PC.
1. Use lock mode when the folder should not open without the password.
2. Use hide mode when the folder should stay out of casual view on the drive.
3. Use write protection when files can be viewed but should not be changed, deleted, moved, or renamed.
4. Keep protection focused on selected folders, so the rest of the external hard drive remains usable.
